Masterson’s Pub , situated in the center of Moonee Ponds , promotes itself as a chic “hipster” locale , but my recent visit at this establishment resulted in an experience I’d rather forget . The ground was covered in grime , and a pungent odor of old alcohol and neglected washrooms suffused the entire pub. Reeking of a mixture of human waste, old age and sour vomit . The bar area , which should be the main attraction of any pub, was piled high with used mugs and debris that looked like it had accumulated over weeks. The restroom was in even more deplorable shape — backed up, with a broken handle and surfaces marked in what I can only assume was fecal matter .
